The first quarter of 2014 again saw positive growth in Paid Search. Search engine advertising rose 8 percent year over year, according to IgnitionOne’s latest report.
The report looked at paid search trends in Q1, looking at search performance across the IgniteOne platform which is used by major brands and agencies.
Paid search clicks rose 5 percent and click-through-rates (CTR) were up 23 percent. Impressions fell again, dropping 15 percent year over year.
The drop in impressions, according to the report, is due to the increase in mobile searches where there is less space for advertising in the search results. However, these mobile searches have been highly efficient for advertisers, as the effective CPM for mobile ads rose 27 percent as compared to 2013.
