CASE STUDY: Retail E-Commerce – Foods & Gifts

THE CHALLENGE

Gourmet Boutique, a chocolate & gifts store in Boston, had a small web presence built upon the Yahoo! Stores ecommerce platform. The website was several years old and had become outdated, as it was lacking key functionality like mobile responsiveness and an inbuilt blog for content marketing.

THE GOAL

  • To create a modern ecommerce website that is visually appealing and built with the latest design considerations.
  • Select an ecommerce platform that is fast, secure, reliable, well supported, and easy to manage.
  • Launch a photo-centric website to showcase products and extend retail operations of the brick & mortar store.
  • Create a website that incorporates social media and performs well in search.
  • Design an attractive new logo to represent the business.

THE SOLUTION

Gold Promotion was hired to launch a new ecommerce website based upon the Shopify platform that features custom design, high-quality photography, and a new logo / branding to better represent the luxury brand online.

The website features 300+ products such as gourmet chocolate, gift baskets, coffee, tea, and caviar, and it is fully optimized for organic search. The well-structured catalog provides customers with a superior shopping experience, and provides for fast and easy check-out.

From an administrative perspective, the it is both easy to use and manage, allowing the business to easily add to and update the product catalog. The site also features a simple blogging platform which allowed for migration of the existing 3rd party blog to serve as a foundation for future content.

The site provides full reporting and analytics, providing the business with critical information on web traffic, sales, and order fulfillment. The platform provides the perfect foundation for a growing ecommerce business, effectively allowing Gourmet Boutique to reach more customers than ever before.

THE RESULTS

The website delivered by Gold Promotion is both attractive and functional and Shopify has proved to be an excellent ecommerce platform to help grow the business. A short offsite SEO campaign was then executed in order to solidify the brand’s position on the first page of Bing and Google, for several key product lines.
